Lisa Allen is a writer, photographer, and outreach and digital marketing consultant for documentary films and nonprofit organizations.
She was director of outreach for CITY OF TREES (National Broadcast on PBS series America Reframed, released on Netflix in May 2017), the award-winning feature-length documentary by DC-based production company Meridian Hill Pictures.
Previously, she lived in Kyoto, Japan where she was editorial assistant and publicity strategist at Kyoto Journal, an independent, quarterly magazine presenting insights from Kyoto, Japan and Asia.
She believes that authentic storytelling through documentary film can give voice to the disenfranchised, tell forgotten or untold human stories in engaging and creative ways, and thereby rewrite and heal parts of history.
Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in communication/ media studies and art history from Wake Forest University.
