Filmmaker

Miasarah Lai is an independent documentary filmmaker and freelancer based in Chicago. From the Lower East Side, New York City, Lai’s Puerto Rican-Chinese heritage and diverse neighborhood shaped her global interests in visualizing alternative female and minority narratives. When she is not working on her own projects, Lai organizes two feminist collectives: Ethnocine, an ethnographic filmmaking collective, and Mezcla Media Collective, a hub for filmmakers of color in Chicago.
